"Filled with meaty, doomy caveman riffs, deep guttural vocals, and forceful and unrelenting riffs that will not quit."
Remember the first time you heard dISEMBOWELMENT? I do. It wrecked me in a way that a death metal release hadn’t before that. It effortlessly shifted between fast, grindcore-esque tempos to slow, crawling funeral doom. It was unlikely anything I had ever heard, and it was perfect. The first time I heard “The Encompassing Nothing” by newcomers THORN, I was immediately transported back to that first listen of dISEMBOWELMENT.
The 7 songs that comprise THORN’s debut run the gamut from doom-at-a-snail’s pace to crushing death metal to downtuned sludge. Every moment is drenched in cavernous reverb and adorn with vicious, guttural growls. The songwriting is so good, as is the production. It makes it hard to believe that this is a debut!
If you’re a fan of cavernous death/doom, you do not want to sleep on this release! Highly recommended!
